Join the Ohio Section Governing Board!
Do you want to shape the future of water stewardship in Ohio? The Ohio Section Governing Board invites you to lead the charge in advancing our state’s water quality, infrastructure, and community connections. We’re looking for dedicated members to fill two key positions. This is your chance to step up, lead, and shape the future of our organization.
Open Positions:
Vice Chair
- Term: Three years (one year as Vice Chair, one year as Chair, and one year as Past Chair)
- Eligibility: Must have completed one term on the Section Governing Board
- Summary of Responsibilities: Lead meetings in the Chair’s absence, contribute to the One Water Task Force and Finance Committee, and chair the Nominating Committee.
Secretary
- Term: Three years
- Eligibility: Has served at one (1) year as assistant Secretary or in another voting Governing Board position
- Summary of Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, advisor, and advocate for assigned Committees, participate in board initiatives and task forces as directed by the Section Chair, prepare or coordinate meeting minutes of the Governing Board, assist Section staff with maintaining official records of the Section
At Large Trustee
- Term: Three years
- Eligibility: Must have served as an Ohio Section District Officer or Committee Chair
- Summary of Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, advisor, and advocate for assigned Committees, participate in board initiatives and task forces as directed by the Section Chair
NW District Trustee
- Term: Four years
- Eligibility: Must have served as an Ohio Section District Officer or Committee Chair
- Summary of Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, advisor, and advocate for assigned Committees and District, participate in board initiatives and task forces as directed by the Section Chair, attend all District meetings of assigned District
SW District Trustee
- Term: Three years (special term)
- Eligibility: Must have served as an Ohio Section District Officer or Committee Chair
- Summary of Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, advisor, and advocate for assigned Committees and District, participate in board initiatives and task forces as directed by the Section Chair, attend all District meetings of assigned District
Emerging Leader
- Term: Two years
- Eligibility: Must not have previously served in a Section leadership position, including Committees & Districts.
- Summary of Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, advisor, and advocate for assigned Committees, participate in board initiatives and task forces as directed by the Section Chair
- Note: this nonvoting position is selected by the Nominating Committee and confirmed by the Governing Board.

How to Apply: Submit your application by January 15, 2026, to be considered by the Nominating Committee. Elections will take place during the Annual Conference Member Appreciation Lunch in Cincinnati, OH, in August 2026.
Commitment: The OAWWA Governing Board is an exciting and engaged group. Members attend at least five in-person meetings each year and dedicate 3–5 hours per month to board activities. You’ll have flexibility in how you contribute and the support of a collaborative team to make the most of your role.
