Agenda (1.0 Contact Hour Available):
    • 4:00pm-4:30pm: Dam Safety Presentation
        • A presentation on dam safety in Ohio by dams expert Steven Riedy, including why dams are needed (and when they can be removed) and how they are designed, assessed and repaired.
        • A presentation on Hoover Reservoir Dam's by Columbus Division of Watershed Management and Dam Safety staff on the dam's design and how it is operated to prevent flooding downstream while maintaining flow required for water supply, recreation, and ecological needs.
    • 4:30pm-5:00pm: Tour of Hoover Reservoir Dam
        • A walking tour of the 20.8-billion-gallon Hoover Reservoir Dam, led by City of Columbus personnel. The tour will cover green infrastructure around the dam and how it is used to maintain water quality, the different equipment at the dam, including the electronically actuated crest gates, and upcoming projects the City of Columbus is undertaking to maintain the 70-year-old piece of critical infrastructure.
